Patriots and Saints Tangle

Tonight is game two for Head Coach Brian Sims and the Winston Academy Patriots. Fresh off what some people thought as an upset of the 3A Oak Hill Raiders, the Patriots come home for their first home slate of the season to take on 1A foe, Sylva Bay Academy Saints. The Patriots have traditionally beaten the Saints the past few years and Coach Sims is 2-0 against them since coming to Winston. Sylva Bay knocked University Christian School rather handly last week and look to continue this week against the defending runner-ups for the North State title in 2A. Tonight the Pats look to go to their passing game more after the rain slowed them down last week. If you can't make it to the game, be sure to check back on here afterwards for the final story. Also I encourage everyone to check Channel 5 on cable for the broadcast of the game sometime after it. It also is played throughout the week at 7 at night. Thanks for your support of Winston Academy and I hope to see everyone tonight..

WA 6 -OHA 3

A barn burner in West Point ladies and gentlemen. If you weren't there or listening to it then you missed a good one. It was a great opener for the Patriots because we knocked off Oak Hill who is a 3A powerhouse. The game got off to a very sloppy start with a 90 min. rain delay sending all fans and players indoors for the time being taking away precious time from the night. Tyler Dalton had a tough time adjusting to the inclimate weather but adjusted well later. A pass from Dalton to new transfer Dillion Morgan proved to be the turning point of the ballgame. The Patriots were backed deep in their own territory on second down early in the fourth quarter. Dalton dropped back and the defense was coming after him and he managed to dump the short pass off to Morgan and Morgan in turn took the ball 65 yards down the sideline turning the game around for the Pats. 3 plays later the patriots had a score after a fumble was recovered in the endzone by one of our players. Calling the game for the first time with my dad was a big deal and getting the win made it even better. Tonight I chose as the Temptco Steele player of the game; Carlos Black. Carlos was chosen by me because of his leadership on the field both defensively and offensively and he was actively always in the backfield on defense that's why I chose the senior linebacker/fullback as the player of the game. Next week the patriots take on 1A team Sylva Bay who shouldn't be even close of a competitor on the same page as Oak Hill. Next week should also be better for the passing offense. Keep the patriot nation strong and share this blog. Thanks fans

Haven't really talked to any of the players or anything but I think that they are all fired up and ready for the game. Hopefully we start and finsh strong tonight. I will be back on after the game with the full report. Stay tuned.

The bypass

It was Patriot night at The Bypass resturant in Louisville, and I being the good Patriot that I am, made a trip from Starkville after my first day of classes and supported the team with my buisness. (Bypass makes a good club sandwich so the trip wasn't a bad one) The "Patriot Nation" was out supporting the team and full force and I was very suprised. Thanks for all the support from the fans.

Jamboree

Good news from last night at Tri-County. Many of you may already know but the Patriots had an extremly good two games up there. They played two three power houses in MRA and Jackson Prep. They lost to MRA 14-7 which in itself is a great showing of how tough they are but two costly fumbles seemed to close the door for us in that game. In game two they played another highly touted 3A squad, Jackson Prep and the underdogs knocked off the Prepsters 14-0. A very promising start to a very promising season. Only one week from today we will be in West Point taking on the Raiders of Oak Hill. Can Coach Sims and his young squad knock off yet another 3A team. Only one way to find out. BE THERE!!!!!

Hello Patriot fans. Tommorrow begins a new school year and I'm sure that all you high schoolers are just so excited to go back to school! NOT!!! I know exactly how you feel but I am glad that I will be sleeping while all you are scampering around the office seeing who can get the best locker. Good luck to T.D. and Austin as they plan to camp out for a locker (By the way did I mention that you are both retarded). But I look foward to hearing about how the first week goes and remember only 2 weeks till kick off against 3A power house Oak Hill in West Point. I hope to see everybody there. Comment on here I want feedback!

HOTTTT!!!!!!

The title says it all.. While sitting in the shade the whole practice I said to myself, "Self, I'm sure their really hot in pads". Then I thanked the good lord that I myself was not out there. So anyways practice went as well as could be expected this early in the football new year. Spoke with some of the guys and everyone seems to be very optimistic. Tyler Dalton is coming along real well at QB and Kyle "The Hitman" Harriman is looking solid running the ball from the slot position. Passing is key for this season to try to make up for the lost of Chaney Paschal and Michal Hindman two 1,000 yard rushers last season. Austin Harrison, Tyler Moffit, Harriman, and Jermey Hill look to be our receivers with Carlos Black by T.D in the backfield. I didn't get a chance to check out first team defense but we should be all right there. New transfer kicker Dillon Morgan looks to be pretty tough bootin the ball. So special teams should have an increase from last year's inconsistency. I hope to go back before week's end and check out the team again. Looking good Patriot fans. Looking real GOOD.....

Two-a-days here I come!

Well all three of you looking at this story (if its that much) I'm heading over to the school here in about 15 min. I'm going to try to catch up with coach before practice starts because I'm working on a story for the journal that should be released in next weeks interest. Let you know how practice goes...

Change of plans

After talking to Coach Sims earlier, I decided to wait till tommorow to check out practice. He told me that they are doning only shorts and shoulder pads. Tommorow is the first day of full pads and I personally am ready. Due to the fact that I sucked at football I can't say from experience what two-a-days is like but I'm going to find out. Stay tuned

Two-a-days

Yes it's that time of year again. The time where football players across the nation pad up twice a day and knock the crap out of the person in front of them in hopes of getting fully prepared for the season ahead. There's nothing like it in football although it's not a fun thing to be doing in the middle of the hottest part of the day and in the hottest part of the year. I am hopefully heading back to Louisville today to check out the second session of two a days and to check out the football team for this year. I will be back on with the report from camp.
